'Scouts raise money for Haitian orphans'

LEWISTON - Boy Scout Troop 116 and Girl Scout Troops 275 and 1625 participated in a family bottle drive during May to benefit the Rev. Marc Boisvert's orphanage in Haiti. The Scouts joined hands with the parishioners of Holy Cross Parish to spearhead the project.

Jacob Sicotte, chaplain's aide for Troop 116, was responsible for overseeing the collection of money for his troop. With the help of $500 in matching funds from l'Union Saint-Jean Baptiste, a division of Catholic Family Life Insurance, the participants were able to raise $1,800 to support Project Hope in Haiti.

It was a USJB District 11 matching fund project organized by local Council Sainte Croix 413.

Others involved in the project were Michael Leveille and Donald Sicotte from Troop 116, Kate Sicotte and Lise Murray from Troop 275 and Karen Bonneau from Troop 1625.
